A track-day platform for performance drivers — laps, records, comparisons, and a community feed, tuned for a garage phone and a desk browser.

Overview

Lapmeta is the track-day platform for 3,400+ drivers logging laps worldwide. I designed the signed-out landing, the logged-in dashboard, the mobile experience, and the light/dark theming — all pulling from the same design system I built for Femto15. The product answers three questions in one glance: what's the fastest lap right now, who's driving, and where is my next track day?

The problem

Track-day drivers already log laps — on paper, in Notes, in a spreadsheet a friend maintains. What they don't have is a single place where their personal bests, favorite circuits, upcoming sessions, and the community's records live side by side. The team had a working prototype, but the dashboard was a wall of tables: hard to scan, no hierarchy, no story. Sign-up was a five-field form gated in front of the value.

Process summary

01Interviewed enthusiast drivers and mapped the three moments that matter — the morning of a track day, the drive home, and the week after — and designed one surface for each.
02Rebuilt the dashboard around a top-of-page identity card (driver, rank, badges, headline stats) so the first thing a returning user sees is themself.
03Grouped the feed into four scannable modules: Upcoming Track Days, Top Racers (records shattered), a per-track Top 5 leaderboard, and Community Stats — each with a single 'View all' escape hatch.
04Designed a signed-out variant of the same layout so the marketing page feels like a preview of the product, not a separate site.
05Reduced sign-up friction to one primary CTA (Create Free Account) with a secondary Watch Demo — the form itself moved behind the button.
06Built full mobile parity: the same modules stack vertically, the identity card compresses into a one-line rank badge, and the drawer nav collapses secondary pages under a single 'Other Pages' group.
07Shipped light and dark themes from one token set — the dark theme leads with #0A0A0A voids and a signature crimson (#E63946), the light theme keeps the same accents on soft neutral surfaces.

Screens

01 — Logged-in dashboard (dark) — the driver identity card sits above four stat tiles (Laps · Records · Score · Followed Tracks), then Upcoming Track Days, Top Racers with delta badges (-0.549s), a per-track Top 5 leaderboard, and Community Stats. Everything a returning driver checks in the first ten seconds is on one screen.

02 — Logged-in dashboard (light) — the same layout on the light theme, showing how one token set carries the identity across modes. The 'Add' menu is open, exposing the five things a driver can log (Organization, Lap, Modified Cars, Model, Track variation).

03 — Full-screen navigation (light) — pages expand into a full overlay so the hierarchy reads at a glance: Tracks · Laps · Cars · Track Days · Other Pages (About, Sponsors, Drivers). The driver card floats to the right with a direct 'Profile setting' shortcut.

04 — Full-screen navigation with promo — the same overlay swaps the driver card for a 'Join 3,400+ drivers' promo panel when the visitor is signed out. One layout, two states, zero re-design.

05 — Signed-out landing (dark) — a single hero card leads with the community stat ('Join 3,400+ drivers logging laps worldwide') and two clear actions. Below, Upcoming Track Days and four trend tiles set the pace before the lap feed begins.

06 — Signed-out landing (dark, extended) — Newest Laps, Trending Comparisons (car vs. car), Newest and Trending Drivers, and Trending Cars. Every card follows the same anatomy: media on top, title, meta row, stat delta.

07 — Signed-out landing (mobile) — the desktop hero collapses to a single column. Upcoming days become a horizontal three-up, Top Racers keeps the delta chips, and the lap cards fill the viewport with the record badge always in the top-right.

08 — Mobile dashboard — the identity card shrinks to a one-line rank badge (#42, ↑3 this month), and the same four stat tiles sit directly below. Every module from desktop is preserved, just re-stacked.

09 — Mobile dashboard, scrolled — Driver Spotlights, per-track Top 5 leaderboard, and Community Stats. The scroll rhythm is deliberate: identity → your day → the community, in that order.

10 — Mobile drawer nav — 'Profile setting' is one tap, primary pages are stacked as full-width targets, and cars / metric preferences live as inline selects at the bottom. Language toggle stays in the header.

11 — Track Details — the deep page for a single circuit. A cinematic hero photo carries an inline 'Upcoming Events' card, followed by circuit notes, structured meta (location, length, average lap, direction, turns, power-to-weight, uploaded laps, average speed), an embedded video, the track map, an elevation profile, class podiums (Street · Street Mod · Prepared · Competition · Supercars · Legends · Momentum · Grassroots · Overall), and the full lap-times table sortable by mod, driver, make, tire, temp, date, and vs. predict.

12 — Tracks index (desktop, light) — a world map with pinned circuits sits above a sortable table (Track · Location · Length · Laps · Avg Time · Avg mph · P/W Avg). The Filter chip in the top right opens the deep filter drawer without leaving the page.

13 — Tracks index (mobile, light) — the map compresses to a bordered strip, and each track collapses into a two-column stat card (Location · Length · Laps · Avg Time). Filter stays reachable in the sticky header.

14 — Tracks index (mobile, dark) — same layout, dark theme. The map keeps its color pins for orientation while the surrounding UI drops to true black to save OLED battery in a paddock.

15 — Laps index (mobile, light) — lap cards led by the time (1:52.0), a tire compound badge in the top-right, and a compact grid of Car · Driver · Tire · Date. A view-toggle (list / grid) and a Filter chip keep the browsing pace fast.

16 — Laps index (mobile, dark) — identical anatomy, dark theme, with the compound chip in warm amber for at-a-glance tire scanning. The whole list is thumb-scrollable from the paddock.

17 — Sign-in (dark) — a two-pane sheet: 'You must be logged in' with a single Google-only auth button and a Remember-me toggle on the left, a cinematic BMW-livery hero with the promise 'Fastest track lap times and videos' on the right. One decision, one click.

18 — Sign-in (light) — the same sheet on the light theme, plus a compact standalone card variant for narrow viewports. Terms and Privacy stay linked in one line so consent never becomes a wall of text.

19 — Report Wrong Data modal — a lightweight moderation loop that lets any driver flag a bad lap time or file upload. A single required Description field, a live char counter, Cancel / Send Report, and a signature gradient underline that ties the modal back to the brand.

20 — Report Sent confirmation — a calm green check, a two-line thank-you ('Thanks for helping keep LapMeta accurate. We'll review your report within 24–48 hours.'), and a single Close action. Trust in the leaderboard is a feature, not a page.
